Interobject 1,2
Multimedia installation, 2020
An interobject is a dream artefact which manifests itself as an object intermediate or in-between other known objects. It is both all and none of the parts that make it, an amalgam that transgresses the waking mind. It is an alternative thought process, one that can harness the fertility and potentiality of dissonant and harmonic relations all at once.
Interobject 1,2 is a multimedia installation that uses found objects, pieces of mixed media paintings, a sound piece and a text projection. The objects are to be exhibited laying on the ground with the accompanying text projected onto them from above. The text flows in a single line and describes the originating dream environments in succession. Their sound emanates from the floor and could be heard once the viewer gets close enough to the objects.
The objects are based on a singular dream paracosm. However, they are not true to the actual encountered interobjects, but rather they are non-objects that exist neither in the waking nor in the dreaming life. They are interobjectifications of entire dreamscapes and artefacts. While they are condensations and expressions of the material and sensory qualities of the paracosm, they also work as cartographic pieces of evidence. Similarly to a conventional map that might exist in the real world, these objects are specific map devices that are particular to their dream reality. The parts that make up the pieces and the ways in which they connect to each other describe the spatial qualities and relationships that one would encounter in the dreamscape. While they cannot be read as a map with a waking cognitive process, they may come true as guides under an interobjectified perception.
